Tamsin’s Perfectly Bespoke Wedding Dress

Tamsin’s search for a Wedding Dress Maker began after a brief telephone call to our bridal studio in London during the spring of 2020.  After the initial chat, real bride Tamsin, travelled all the way from her home in Darlington in the North East of England, just 20 miles south of Durham, to come and visit in London.  Our bride said, that after seeing the custom made wedding dresses we had created for our brides over on our  Facebook page, she knew that we could perhaps be the right fit for what she needed.

Tamsin’s ideal wedding dress needed to be elegant and ethereal to match the image she carried in her heart since childhood.  She was our ideal client.  She knew exactly the type of wedding dress that she wanted, even if she couldnt necessarily describe it in detail.  Our role and experience as wedding dress designers was to gain as much understanding of the things that she loved and hated about bridal fashion; which we did by merely using our expertise and listening carefully to her story.  In fact, just dreaming with her and turning her dream into a stunning gown that matched her style and personality perfectly.

Following our initial discussion on zoom, we created several designs for Tamsin, together with fabric and lace samples which were sent to her home. Tamsin opted for the fitted silk gown with a cold shoulder neckline and a detachable lace embroidered overskirt.  We were so overjoyed that she loved the designs along with the perfect shade of alabaster in silk that would enhance the ivory lace and provide the warmth and glow against her skin tone.

THE DRESS MAKING PROCESS & FITTINGS

Following several fittings in a mocked up fabric together with a bespoke corset that was specially made to provide the shaping and support in the right areas,  her bespoke bridal gown was hand crafted in a Italian silk crepe overlaid with a embroidered lace design.

At the  wedding dress fitting in the video above, the bride tries on her almost completed bridal gown for last minute adjustments; afterwhich, the dress is then whisked away for the bodice details to be completed.

Diane, who heads up the beading team, and is well known in the industry providing her skills to international brands such as Suzanne Neville and Caroline Castagliano, added the tiniest glass beads and clear diamonte stones to provide a gentle sparkle that wouldnt overwhelm Tamsins gentle character.

From start to finish the whole process took around one year.  We worked closely with Tamsin’s busy schedule, creating personalised fitting appointments in our North West London studio during this timeframe and we were so fortunate to be asked to create the bridesmaids gowns for both her daughters who came along to the studio too.
