But before we get started, lets take a look at the new trends in fabrics, colours, textures and trims before we delve into the styles of leading couture designers and explain how to make them work for you.

STYLING  THE NEW BRIDAL TRENDS

FEATHERS – Abundant Light

Either go bold in a full feathered gown or use more sparingly by adding to the body of the dress for movement but what your choice – Don’t Skimp!  You cannot go wrong with feathers if you  want to take your femininity to new heights.   What may have seemed a little over the top in past seasons, is now rife on trend  glamour, luxe and ethereal beauty –  at ceremony, rehearsal dinner, or after-party.

70’s VIBE – DANCING QUEEN

Think 70’s Abba inspiration with a hint of New York disco diva scene.  From fringing and mini skirts to flared pants with sparkling sequins, you can still introduce elements to your  bespoke wedding dress signature with and keep it timeless by sticking to clean and uncluttered.  If, on the other hand, you really want the go all out for this vibe, why now save it for your second dress or after party look.

PUFF PUFF AND AWAY

If you are old enough to remember 1980’s fashion, it was all about #LadyBoss statement dressing with suits and power shoulders.  This time round however, the 80’s and 60’s merge into a kind of ‘Mod/Glam’ fusion not intended for the shy and retiring types but for those unafraid of exploring new adventures.  In our previous post we explored the importance of having an open mind about trends and not allowing yourself to feel overwhelmed by outdated rules and attitudes; So as a general guide, do bear in mind that whilst 2020 is all about volume, bigger doesn’t always mean better if you are small framed or with a fuller bust.

HEMLINES | HIGH LOW

Not entirely a new look as the High-Low Hemline has been around for a few seasons.  However next season, do expect to see more playful versions of this style with colour, texture, volume, shape and scale all playing a big part.  This is definitely a seductive way to walk the aisle with a playful flash of the thigh with feet stylishly adorned in your favourite designer wedding shoe.  To complete the look, go for sleek pulled back hair up or cascading Hollywood style waves topped by a NON TRADITIONAL FASHION FORWARD VEILS

THE HALTER

The Halter Neck Wedding Dress is the perfect alternative to bridge the gap if you are undecided between going strapless and wanting to cover up for the ceremony.  The style has its advantages if you require a little more bust support than most.  Plus, it is easy to slip in bust cups for additional shaping if your gown is softer and unboned.

There are a variety of fashion forward styles to explore if you don’t want your back to be exposed too, so don’t despair – explore

THE TROUSER | SHORTS, PLAYSUITS, ALL-IN-ONE

Trousers, Shorts, Playsuits – you name it – you can do it especially if you are planning a lush Barn wedding, a City Wedding or even getting married abroad.  Thsi kind of style suits the cool-bride in you  so don’t fret if your wedding is none of the above – just make it work!  Think Rehearsal dinners or even after party to channel your daring side  and whatever choice you make, style it up with sleek hair and uber stylish accessories and shoes.

ROMANTIC | ENDLESS LOVE

Timeless Classy and cool.  Take inspiration from the house of Dior’s 1950’s look books and fuse with modern fabrics that are sheer, frothy and add an element of modernity and risque for that modern sexy effortlessly cool look without having to worry about what any of your guests, friends, or family will think.

Whilst we never want to limit your choices because every bride (including petite brides) should be able to wear whatever she wants – you will need a little help and guidance with restyling and even re-positioning proportions  – a point which is probably best explained during a wedding dress consultation to help you understand how designing a wedding dress works and how the rules are applied in individual cases.

So there you have it once again!  We hope to have inspired your search and would like to take this opportunity to invite you to get in touch with any questions that you may have.  There is NO CHARGE FOR INTIAL CONSULATION LASTING 40 MINUTES.
