With the first week of lock down 2020 in the UK fully under our belts, it has been extraordinary how a seemingly surreal event on the other side of the world has suddenly impacted for ever all our lives and businesses in a way that no-one could have ever imagined. SO HOW DOES A COUTURE WEDDING DRESS CONSULTATION WORK ONLINE?
I have streamlined a process that I have used many times with success to design and make wedding dresses & evening gowns for clients who reside abroad. This means that you shouldn’t have to cancel the experience and process of shopping for your dress ♥.
I would highly recommend that you use this time to keep things moving ahead; as once things return to normal, you will find the industry deluged with orders which is another problem that you perhaps do not wish to have. OUR FIRST MEETING WILL BE VIA SKYPE, ZOOM, WHATSAPP
Whilst we cannot [at this present time] welcome you into the atelier. But, we can still take full advantage of working from home to arrange a telephone or online meeting where we begin the process of discussing your dreams and goals for the big day. There is so much that I can do as a designer once we have had our first chat and, each time that we speak after that, provide opportunities for us to get to know each other more.
Once we receive the completed CONTACT FORM with the necessary details, you will receive your personal invite to our first meeting by video.
All that you need to bring to the meeting – if you have the information – is yourself (pj’s welcome), details of the venue, date for the wedding and any images from your phone or Pinterest board. It doesn’t have to be beautiful and perfect, just anything that inspires you with regards to shapes, necklines, sleeves, floral bouquet, colours etc.
The more information that you can share, make it easier for me to capture your vision of how you want your day to look. Our first meeting will last no more than 30 minutes and is non-committal.

SKETCHES, FABRICS AND TRIMS
Following the virtual couture wedding dress meeting, we can begin the process of designing and preparing in details further ideas for you to consider. Once we have established your planned wedding dress budget, we can begin to move forward to arrange our second meeting online.
In the follow up appointment, we can share in more detail any new ideas that we have and provide you with more detailed expertise advice on the options available to you.
Once you are happy with the final sketches and fabric choice, these can be prepared and sent out to you by post along with fabric samples and trims for you to enjoy and share with family and friends.

HOW TO SEND US YOUR MEASUREMENTS
Under normal circumstances the next stage would be to take detailed measurements from you and to record images of your body shape to assist with the design and development of a toile and corset. However, as we having to navigate this process, you will be supplied with a personalized video clip of instructions so that you can record the basic measurements that are needed at this stage.
Should you need a tape measure for this, we’ll happily pop one in the post so there is absolutely no need for you to worry. I can assure you, that with all my years of training, I am well equipped and knowledgeable of working with clients who live abroad and who send their measurements to me using this method.

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
Whilst a special pattern is being created for your bespoke corset, we will be researching and developing other areas of the wedding dress design process. These are not limited to just sourcing fabric but may also include our signature bespoke embellishment and applique, embroidery & customised beadwork for your dress, veil, train & bodice to further elevate your choice of dress into a truly breath-taking design.

MEETING US IN PERSON
When the first toile (mock-up) of your custom-made wedding dress is ready, you will receive an invitation to book your first appointment via the website. This is straight forward process and allows you to choose a time and date that is most convenient for you.

The Couture Wedding Dress Consultation is a breathtaking and exhilarating experience. Not only wil you have the opportunity to meet the WEDDING DRESSMAKER, but you will gain insight and be involved in the whole studio experience with first hand insight into how your wedding dress is made and the decisions behind every stage. So allow yourself plenty of time to relax and enjoy each appointment as craft-work cannot be rushed through. If you have ever wonder how, what and why? Now is the time to fully appreciate the different layers of your couture bridal gown and how they work together as one design.

Together, we can experiment with different trims, beading and explore techniques that will serve to make your dress a truly unique work of art. During this stage of the process we focus a lot of attention on the precise fitting of the corset which is engineered to support your body whilst providing the necessary support and lift that is right for your wedding dress.

It is important that you bring your wedding underwear to this toile fitting. To get the best results, we use your body to define and assist the pattern making process of the corset which is specially crafted by hand and tailored to fit your body contour.

SCHEDULING FITTING APPOINTMENTS

The fitting process of your bridal gown will take place over a few months to allow areas of your wedding dress to be constructed in between appointments. The total number of fittings required is on average around 4 – 6 – but this is very much dependent on the complexity of the wedding dress design.

You will be kept fully informed throughout the wedding dress process on the progress of your wedding dress and time frame of fittings so that you are able to plan and schedule appointments around your availability.
